Boat Operator Draws License Suspension
The pilot of a sportfishing boat that collided with a 564-foot tanker outside Los Angeles Harbor in November had his operating license suspended for six months by an administrative law judge.
Tim Filson was ordered Wednesday by Judge Harry J. Gardner not to pilot a vessel during the suspension and to serve one year of probation after that.
Filson, 25, pleaded no contest last month at a Coast Guard hearing to charges that he failed to maintain a proper lookout and to navigate with caution before the Nov. 16 crash.
