COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Antelope Valley Records 24th Win

Tony Madison scored a game-high 27 points and teammate Paul Ernst added 20 as Antelope Valley thumped host Mt. San Jacinto, 112-88. The victory was Antelope Valley’s 24th against six losses, tying the school record for wins in a season.

Antelope Valley, which is 10-1 in the Foothill Conference, scored 67 points in the first half in opening a 25-point lead. Steve Walker added 15 points and 15 rebounds for the winners, while teammate Dedan Thomas scored 14 points and handed out eight assists.

Mt. San Jacinto fell to 18-9, 6-4.

In other men’s games:

Glendale 82, West Los Angeles 60 -- Five players scored in double figures for host Glendale in a Western State Conference Game.

Forward Dave Swanson led the charge with 16 points, followed by Gary Fowler ’14 points), Justin Lord (13), Bruce Heicke (12) and Vigen Serop (10 points, seven assists). Glendale is 19-10, 7-4.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Antelope Valley 50, Mt. San Jacinto 47 -- Molley Jonnum scored 19 points and Denise Prince added 15 points as Antelope Valley (14-10), 9-1) won a Foothill Conference game on the road.

Valley 76, Canyons 56 -- Valley ranked fourth in the state, scored 24 unanswered points to blow out fifth-ranked Canyons in a Western State Conference game a Valley.

By the time their run ended early in the second half, the Lady Monarchs led by 29 points.

Claudia Rocha finished with a game-high 19 points for Valley (24-4. 10-1) and Sandrine Rocher added 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Tressie Millender led Canyons (20-6, 8-3) with 14 points, and Dawn Coleman scored 12. Michelle Cabaldon finished with 11.

BASEBALL Azusa Pacific 14, The Master’s 4 -- Mark MacArthur, Tony Jaime and Jeff Cole all hit their first home runs of the season for The Master’s (1-2) in a losing effort. Fred Watley (1-0) picked up the win for Azusa Pacific (2-2).

Pierce 8, Mt. San Antonio ) -- Kurt Lowry scattered eight hits in pitching a complete game for visiting Pierce (1-2). Mike Vanacore hit a bases-loaded triple for Pierce.
