South Bay Schools at Home in Playoffs

Morningside and Bishop Montgomery won coin flips Thursday to earn home games for the second round of the CIF Southern Section girls basketball playoffs Saturday night.
Games start at 7:30.
Top-seeded Morningside (24-3) will play host to Antelope Valley (16-5) in a 5-AA Division game. The Lady Monarchs advanced with an 89-49 victory Wednesday over Leuzinger, while Antelope Valley beat Etiwanda, 56-38.
Bishop Montgomery (15-9) faces Artesia (18-9) at home after defeating Rio Mesa, 50-44, in the first round of the 4-A playoffs.
Eight other South Bay teams will play second-round games Saturday night at predetermined sites.
Torrance (16-10), a surprise 55-52 winner Wednesday over Seaview League champion Tustin, will play host to Mission Viejo (19-8) in a 4-AA game.
In the 4-A Division, No. 4-seeded West Torrance (19-5) is at home against Cypress (16-9) after drawing a bye in the opening round. North Torrance (16-7) plays at St. Joseph of Lakewood (17-9), and Redondo faces visiting Ganesha of Pomona (19-8). North advanced with an 83-58 win over San Marcos, while Redondo beat Fullerton, 53-47.
Second-seeded Palos Verdes (24-4), the Bay League champion, opens the 3-AA playoffs at home against Centennial (12-10) after drawing a first-round bye.
In a 3-A game, No. 4-seeded St. Bernard (18-5) plays host to Santa Paula (15-5). Both teams had first-round byes.
St. Mary’s Academy of Inglewood (10-9), which opened the 2-AA playoffs with a 58-37 win over St. Matthias, plays at No. 4-seeded Santa Margarita (17-6).
Chadwick (16-3), a convincing 59-8 winner over Oakwood in the first round of the 1-A playoffs, plays at Faith Baptist of Canoga Park (9-9).
