Bradshaw Gets Mark; USIU Loses on Road
Kevin Bradshaw scored 29 points to set a single-season scoring record for U.S. International University, but the Gulls lost to Missouri-Kansas City Saturday, 109-91.
Bradshaw now has 773 points, breaking the old record of 761 set by Joe Yezbak in 1985-86.
But Bradshaw’s wasn’t the only record set Saturday night. Darrell Colbert tied a Missouri-Kansas City single-game scoring record with 35 points, and David Robinson had 26 points and Ronnie Schmitz 24 for the Kangaroos (11-13), who tied a team single-game scoring record set Monday against Samford.
Colbert, who scored 26 in the second half, tied the scoring record set by Napoleon Petteway, who reached 35 points twice last season.
Colbert scored 14 of the Kangaroos’ 18 points during an 18-11 run midway through the second half, giving the Kangaroos a 72-65 lead.
The Gulls (9-16) came back to take an 81-80 lead with 6:56 left.
Two free throws by Schmitz with 6:44 left put Kansas City ahead for good at 82-81. Schmitz has 376 points this season, a Missouri-Kansas City record.
