A 21-year-old woman was shot to death and her 15-year-old sister was wounded Saturday afternoon when a dispute with their stepfather erupted into gunfire, police reported.

Sgt. Larry Wagstaff said Olivia Bohaman of Santa Ana was shot three times, including once in the head, during a quarrel with Jose Lopez Perez, 32, inside Bohaman’s apartment at 4415 W. Tampion Ave. Her sister, whose name was not released because she is a juvenile, was wounded in the arm and back.

Bohaman was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead about 4 p.m. Her sister was listed in stable condition.

Wagstaff said police found a .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol at Bohaman’s home, and that witnesses have identified Perez as the alleged gunman. He fled the scene of the shooting in a car, according to police. He was still at large Saturday night.

“This appears to be part of an ongoing family dispute, maybe something involving the girl,” Wagstaff said. “We went to the home and found the two young women inside the apartment with gunshot wounds.”

In an earlier unrelated shooting in Santa Ana, a 21-year-old man was fatally wounded in a volley of gunfire from a passing pickup truck Friday night.

Sgt. Dick Faust said Jesus Perez of Santa Ana was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound to the head at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana after the 8:30 p.m. shooting at Rene Drive and St. Gertrude Place.

According to Faust, Perez was a passenger in a car that was heading south on Rene Drive. At the same time, Faust said, a pickup truck carrying two to four people came from the opposite direction.

As the two vehicles passed, someone in the truck fired at least five shots from a .38-caliber revolver into the car. Two bullets went through the windshield, while two others penetrated the driver’s window and door.
