Charles Emmet Daly; Longtime Judge and Attorney

Charles Emmet Daly, 89, former assistant attorney general of California and a longtime judge and attorney. Born in Montana, Daly obtained his law degree from Georgetown University and then joined the FBI when it was first organized. During World War II he was with Naval Intelligence and the Office of War Information and then joined Edmund G. (Pat) Brown’s staff when Brown was district attorney in San Francisco. Daly moved to the future governor’s staff when Brown became attorney general and later was appointed by the then-governor to the Municipal Court bench in San Francisco. Daly also had a private law practice in Los Angeles. On Feb. 17 in San Francisco.
