The goal of Indiana Jones’ current crusade was to make No. 1 on the Billboard rental chart. Success! “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” toppled last week’s leader, “Turner & Hooch,” which slipped to No. 3. “Lethal Weapon 2” moved up three notches to No. 2. What’s shaping up in the next few weeks is a see-saw battle of the heavyweights, with “Indiana Jones” and “Lethal Weapon 2” bouncing in and out of the top spot. Don’t be surprised if “Parenthood” sneaks by to take over the rental throne. “Parenthood,” No. 5 after just two weeks on the chart, should be up to No. 3 next week. “New York Stories,” featuring a trio of short films by directors Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and Woody Allen, is doing fair rental business at No. 15.

* “Pink Cadillac,” an action/comedy starring Clint Eastwood as a man who tracks down bail-jumpers, wasn’t one of his big box-office hits, taking in just $12.1 million. In the rental market it’s no blockbuster either, inching up one notch to No. 13 after several weeks in the stores.
