In another Division II game:

Pasadena Muir 56, San Pasqual 39--Muir outscored San Pasqual, 22-2, in the first quarter and led, 37-10, at halftime in the rout at home. San Pasqual (23-6) was just 1 of 10 in the first quarter and had nine turnovers.

Nikki Gannon had 15 points and Valerie Ryan added 13 for San Pasqual. Karin Banks had 18 points and Rose Jong had 11 points and 12 rebounds for third-seeded Muir (27-5).

DIVISION I

Mt. Carmel 65, Newhall Hart 42--Mt. Carmel surprised Hart, routing the fourth seeds on the road. Mt. Carmel led, 19-9, after the first quarter, 40-13 at halftime and, 55-24, midway through the third quarter.

Mt. Carmel (23-5) held 6-foot-3 center Sara Wilson--last year’s Times Valley Player of the Year--to nine points. Vicki de Jeseus had 17 points and Kris Grazzinil added 16 for Mt. Carmel, which shot 51% (27 of 53) from the field.

DIVISION III

Brea-Olinda 66, Lincoln 32--Brea-Olinda scored 35 consecutive points in the route at home. Lincoln could not handle top-seeded Brea-Olinda’s press and committed 31 turnovers. Aimee McDaniel scored 19 points and became the all-time leading scorer at Brea-Olinda (31-0), which won its 53rd consecutive game.

Palos Verdes 53, Our Lady of Peace 37--OLP Coach Yvonne Sanchez said that early turnovers (15 total) cost her team the game. Tammy Tavares scored 14 points and April Velk scored 13 points and had 12 rebounds for OLP. Palos Verdes jumped to a 31-15 halftime lead.

DIVISION IV

St. Joseph’s 89, Coronado 29--Mary Strasser led coronado with nine points and St. Joeseph’s had five players in double figures. anna McConnell led the way with 19 points.

DIVISION V

Lone Pine 57, La Jolla Country Day 53--Lone Pine outscored LJCD, 16-10, in the third quarter to erase a one-point halftime deficit at University City High. Sixth-seeded Lone Pine (23-6) led by as many as nine points early in the fourth quarter and the closest LJCD (18-3), seeded fourth, could get was four.

Mojave Rosamond 43, Christian 34--Christian’s Tiffany Stutz, who averaged 20 points a game during the regular season, was taken out of the game at the start of the second quarter when she began to hyperventilate. Stutz did not return and finished with six points. Christian was also hindered when its second leading scorer, Erica Jonte fouled out at the start of the fourth quarter.
