HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Three Throw No-Hitter for Clairemont

Oscar Sanchez, Devin Henderson and David Salonius combined for a no-hitter as Clairemont defeated Christian, 14-1, in the Crawford Tournament Tuesday afternoon. It was the season opener for both teams.

Sophomore Craig Goodwin had a three-run homer in the fifth and finished the day three for three with seven RBIs. Sanchez struck out seven batters in four innings for the victory.

In other Crawford Tournament games:

Crawford 6, La Jolla 4--Keith Klayman was two for two with three RBIs, including the game-winner, for Crawford (1-0). John Zuanich was two for three with two RBIs.

Hilltop-Moose Tournament

Granite Hills 10, Chula Vista 7--John Fenn was three for three with a bases-empty home run and two doubles and Jason Braun added a two-run homer for Granite Hills (1-0).

Mission Bay 6, San Marcos 1--Mike Lowry had a bases-empty homer in the first inning, and Jason Enomoto had a two-run double in the fifth for Mission Bay.

Helix 1, Poway 1--Helix scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth, and Poway got its run in the bottom half as Greg Sorrell scored from third on a wild pitch by Rob Ippolito. The game was called in the eighth because of darkness.

Mt. Carmel 9, Hilltop 3--Mt. Carmel scored five runs in the second and three in the third to win easily at Hilltop.

El Capitan 4, Escondido 3--Brian Peeler was two for three and his double in the sixth scored the winning run for El Capitan (1-0). David Rios went six innings and struck out eight for the victory.

GMC Tournament

Lincoln 3, CETYS 2--Donald Anderson’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh scored Mike Hilliard with the winning run for Lincoln (2-0).

Santana 6, San Diego 4--Ross Piper was two for three with two RBIs for Santana.
