Favored Set A Record Scores Victory in Gulfstream Race

The odds-on-favorite Set A Record won the $35,000 Gleaming Channel Purse by 1 1/2 lengths Tuesday at Gulfstream Park as Distinct Stop, a 25-1 shot, closed with a rush to edge Life Of Strength for second place.

Set A Record was timed in 1:39 1/5 for the mile on the grass course, and paid $3.60, $2.80 and $2.60. Distinct Stop paid $13.00 and $6.00 and Life of Strength paid $3.20 to show.

Set A Record, a 6-year-old Florida-bred son of Upper Case, has won eight of 30 grass starts and earned $23,000 Tuesday to bring his lifetime total to $326,352.
