Third place

Castle Park 5, Orange Glen 2--Castle Park leadoff hitter Benji Gil had three doubles, a run scored and two stolen bases. He also picked up a save by pitching the last inning. Castle Park improved to 5-3.

Fifth place

Valhalla 4, Serra 4--Rob Reid’s two-run double highlighted a three-run third inning. Jim May went three for four and Brian Bell and Scott Lapinski had two hits apiece and one RBI. Tom Giglio (2-0) allowed only one earned run and struck out seven for Valhalla.

Seventh place

Kearny 9, Patrick Henry 6--Winning pitcher Rob Fragoso (3-1) hit a two-run double in the eighth inning for Kearny (5-3). Jason Redondo had an RBI single in the eighth, and Lynn Packer went two for four with two runs scored. Henry dropped to 4-4.

Hilltop-Moose Tournament

Helix 1, Mission Bay 0--Eric Nicholson (1-0) pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven to lead Helix (2-2-1) in a game that lasted only 1 1/2 hours. Mission Bay is (1-4).

Granite Hills 12, Poway 8--In the first inning, Poway (3-1-1) committed three errors and Shane Spencer of Granite Hills (4-1) hit a two-run homer. Spencer (2-0) picked up the victory and was three for four at the plate.

San Marcos 8, Chula Vista 7--Trailing 7-1 going into the bottom of the seventh, San Marcos came up with seven runs to overtake Chula Vista. Both teams are 2-3. Sophomore Curt Gallegos, just called up from the junior varsity, ignited the inning by hitting a one-out two-run homer to make it 7-3. San Marcos then put together four walks and four singles for the final five runs.

GMC Tournament

Santana 13, Coronado 4--Gabriel Hernandez hit a two-run home run in the fourth and Ferdie Hollis hit a three-run shot in the fifth to lead visiting Santana (5-0), which scored six in the fourth and three in the fifth. Tom Weinbrecht (1-0) was the winning pitcher.

San Diego 8, El Cajon 5--Chino Arreolo (1-1) went the distance to pick up the win at San Diego. San Diego’s Josh Stetner hit a solo home run in the sixth. El Cajon is 2-2-1, San Diego 3-2.

Montgomery 7, Lincoln 5--Montgomery got a solo home run from Luis Contreras in the seventh and had three other players with two hits: Pitcher Luiz Arroyo, Antonio Serena and Miguel Perez. Montgomery improved to 6-1.

Southwest 6, La Jolla Country Day 3--J.J. Wozniak had two RBIs to lead Southwest (2-3).

Reyman-Pirate

Fallbrook 15, Laguna Beach 6--Third baseman Matt Dunlap hit a two-run home run in the fourth and a three-run home run in the fifth to lead Fallbrook (4-1), which scored five in the first and six in the sixth. Dunlap had six RBIs. Danny Furleigh, who was four for four, added three.

Temecula 7, San Pasqual 1--Temecula scored three in the third and four in the sixth. Erich March was two for three for visiting San Pasqual (1-4-1), which collected just four hits.

Rancho Buena Vista 9, Ramona 3--Chris Gorr, an RBV senior, went three for four with three RBIs. Teammate Kevin Lippert went two for three with two doubles and three RBIs. RBV pitcher Donovan Crocker allowed three hits and one walk in six innings.

Grossmont 5, Torrey Pines 2--Anthony Napoli had two hits and an RBI, but Torrey Pines (3-2) couldn’t overcome Grossmont (7-0).
