Fallbrook
A 5-year-old Fallbrook boy bitten by a pit bull was in serious condition Friday night at Children’s Hospital, where he was taken at 4:30 p.m., hospital spokeswoman Jeannie Berghorn said.
Garry Chisholm apparently fell from a fence into a yard containing the brindle pit bull. The boy suffered multiple cuts to his face, chest and arms, Berghorn said. He also had bites on his head, she said.
The dog has been impounded by the San Diego Department of Animal Control, said Sally Hazzard, the department’s director.
At 6:30 p.m., the boy underwent surgery, which was expected to last several hours, Berghorn said. His parents, Gary and Julie Chisholm, were located and taken to the hospital.
The name of the dog’s owner has not yet been released, Hazzard said. An investigation is under way.
