Share

Mt. Carmel High School baseball Coach Sam Blalock said the day was “long and boring.”

Blalock, it should be pointed out, was the winning coach.

A worse afternoon was had by Morse Coach Len Arevalo, who watched his pitchers give up 22 walks and hit three batters during a doubleheader sweep by the Sundevils.

Mt. Carmel improved to 8-1 by winning the first game, 7-0, and the second, 11-1.

John Moon led Mt. Carmel hitters, going four for seven with two RBIs in the two games.

Sophomore Mario Israel got last-inning relief help from Doug Hill to finish a three-hitter in the first game. Andy Owen delivered the game’s big hit, a two-run double.

Pitchers Scott Tebbetts, Todd Voigt and Andy Panganiban combined for a three-hitter in the second. Chris Chavez led the Sundevils with two hits, including a double, and an RBI.
