COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Sweep, Van Dortrecht Wins Two
Cal State Fullerton’s Ann Van Dortrecht pitched a five-hitter to win the first game, then won in relief in the second and the Titans swept a Big West Conference softball doubleheader from UC Santa Barbara Wednesday at Fullerton.
Fullerton won the first game, 3-0, when Van Dortrecht (17-4) gained her 10th shutout of the season. She pitched the final three innings of the second game as Fullerton won, 1-0, in 17 innings.
Nikki Lewis and Diana Foreman had back-to-back doubles with one out in the 17th for fourth-ranked Fullerton (26-9, 6-3) in the second game.
Santa Barbara is 15-13, 3-4.
In a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. baseball game:
Chapman 10, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 1--Mike Kelly had two hits, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning for Chapman at Hart Park.
Kelly also scored three runs and had three runs batted in for Chapman (18-12, 9-5).
Jason Rolish had three hits, two RBIs and Doug Yates hit a two-run home run and Dave Paveloff (6-4) pitched a three-hitter for Chapman.
In nonconference men’s tennis:
UCLA 5, UC Irvine 1--Richard Lubner won, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, for visiting UC Irvine’s only point.
