Tony Clark, who led the county in home runs last season with 11, had three solo home runs as Christian held on to defeat Marian, 3-2, in a Harbor League game.

The home runs tied Clark for second on the section list with seven others. The record of four was set by Santana’s Jim Tatum in 1985. Clark hit two-out home runs in the first and sixth innings and a one-out shot in the fourth. Marian rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

City Central League

Madison 12, San Diego 10--Robi Hoffman was five for five, including two home runs as Madison led, 11-1, and then held on for the victory at San Diego. Jason McElveny added a solo homer in the first for Madison.

Crawford 11, Hoover 5--Chris Townsend went three for four with two RBIs and Eric Breier was two for four with three RBIs for Crawford (8-2, 3-1). Joe Campbell was three for three with three RBIs, including a two-run homer, for Hoover (2-9, 0-3).

City Eastern League

Mira Mesa 8, Point Loma 2--Mira Mesa remained undefeated (12-0, 3-0), and Mike Bovee struck out eight as he improved his record to 5-0. Drew Arnold was two for three and drove in three runs. Point Loma dropped to 6-5, 2-1.

Metro Conference

Castle Park 5, Chula Vista 2--Bobby Whittmeyer singled to drive in two runs in Castle Park’s five-run fifth inning. Raul Molina drove in a run and went two for three. Castle Park improved to 7-3, 2-0.

Montgomery 14, Mar Vista 7--Montgomery collected its runs on an equal number of hits (14) as the Aztecs improved to 8-3, 2-0. Winning pitcher Mauricio Martinez was two for two and teammates Miguel Perez and Saul Rodriguez also got two hits. Rodriguez scored three runs.

Hilltop 6, Sweetwater 1--In spite of being outhit 7-5 and making five errors, Hilltop got some crucial hits and some key pitching by Jose Silva (2-3). Catcher Paul Stojavljevic got two hits for Hilltop (7-3, 2-0). Sweetwater dropped to 8-3, 1-1.
