HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Chatsworth Uses 12 Errors by Kennedy to Win, 14-4

Aided by 12 errors, Chatsworth posted a 14-4 Northwest Valley Conference baseball victory over host Kennedy on Tuesday, handing the Golden Cougars their first conference defeat.

Chatsworth senior right-hander Reed McMackin (4-2) scattered six hits and struck out 11 as Kennedy fell to 11-2, 7-1 in conference play.

“I’ve never seen any team play like this,” Kennedy Coach Manny Alvarado said. “We couldn’t catch the ball and they didn’t make any mistakes.”

Kennedy shortstop Billy Ramirez made six errors, including one in the third inning when Chatsworth (9-3-1, 4-3-1) scored three runs. Catcher Lazaro Campos’ two-run throwing error in the third gave the Chancellors a 4-0 lead.

“That was a big inning,” Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn said. “We needed those (runs).”

Kennedy left-hander Denny Sharp (4-2) allowed nine runs before being replaced by Richard Trujillo in the sixth. Trujillo gave up five hits and five runs.
