Tony Mandarich, the central figure in allegations of illegal steroid use by members of Michigan State’s 1987 Rose Bowl team, again has denied ever using the muscle-enhancing drug. “I’ve never taken anything to enhance my athletic ability,” the former All-America offensive lineman, now in his second season with the Green Bay Packers, told the Detroit Free Press in an interview published today.
