THE SIDELINES : Pa. County Bids for Sport Teams
A suburban Pennsylvania county with plenty of highways and mass transit is considering a bid to keep the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers from moving to New Jersey.
Delaware County Council Chairwoman Mary Ann Arty confirmed the offer Thursday but said discussions are only preliminary.
“So far, the talks are just exploratory,” she said. “Some folks here thought, ‘Hey, if the teams are thinking about leaving Philadelphia, why shouldn’t they come to Delaware County?’ We’ve got everything to offer--good will, good people and access to some good locations.”
