Tennesseeans Charged in Sepulveda Slaying

Three Tennessee men were charged this week in the slaying of a Sepulveda man who was robbed and shot to death after inviting the men to his apartment in September, Los Angeles police said Wednesday.

Ronald Boscano, 28, his brother, Vincent Boscano, 23, and William Simmons, 27, all of the Chattanooga area, were charged Tuesday with murder, robbery, burglary and car theft, Los Angeles Police Detective Michael Brandt said.

The arrested men, who were already being held in Tennessee and Georgia on unrelated charges, are accused of killing Sheldon Oppenheim, 35. Oppenheim’s body was found Sept. 24 by a friend in his apartment in the 1500 block of Parthenia Street, Brandt said.

Brandt said undisclosed evidence found in the apartment linked the men to the killing. Brandt said Oppenheim apparently met the three men in a North Hollywood bar the night before his body was found and invited them back to his apartment. Detectives believe the suspects robbed and shot Oppenheim and stole his car.

Vincent Simmons and Boscano were located earlier this month in the Hamilton County Jail in Chattanooga, where they were being held on local burglary charges. Los Angeles detectives interviewed them there last week and located the elder Boscano in a jail in Walker County, Ga., where he was also being held on local burglary charges.

The three men were served Tuesday with Los Angeles County warrants charging them with the murder and extradition procedures are to begin later this month, Brandt said.
