PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Estancia Rallies to Win Pride of the Coast Title

Estancia High School rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat El Modena, 7-4, in the championship game of the Pride of the Coast baseball tournament Wednesday at Estancia.

Estancia (12-5) scored two runs in the fourth and five in the sixth.

Rueben Mora walked with the bases loaded to force in the tying run in the fifth. Colby French followed with a three-run double to right-center field.

Greg Brannis (5-4) pitched one inning in relief for the victory.

In the consolation round:

Corona del Mar 17, Newport Harbor 7--Corona del Mar had 20 hits at Newport Harbor. Brady Lamar had three hits, scored four runs and had four RBIs. Rees Thorkelson had three hits, including a double and a triple, scored four runs and drove in four. John Paulsen had three hits and scored three runs, and Cloud Schnoebelen had three hits with two RBIs. Corona del Mar is 6-11.

Glenn 10, Bolsa Grande 4--Glenn (12-4) scored four runs in the first inning, with a two-run double by Ramiro Mejia, who had two hits and four RBIs. Vince Mitchell had two hits for Bolsa Grande (4-11-1). Glenn had 15 hits.

Orange Lutheran 11, Los Amigos 10--Matt Laurent hit a two-run home run and Mic Buehler hit a solo home run for Orange Lutheran (11-5), which had 13 hits.

In the fifth-place game of the Chino tournament:

Trabuco Hills 10, Simi Valley Royal 7--Scott McClelland had four hits and two RBIs, and Chris Darby had two hits and scored twice for Trabuco Hills (10-5).

In the Angelus League:

Mater Dei 9, St. Paul 0--Sean Sutton (4-2) pitched a six-hitter with six strikeouts for host Mater Dei (11-5, 5-3). Lionel Hastings had three hits and four RBIs and Jim Betzsold had two hits and three RBIs.
