Sockers Won’t Let Zungul Practice
Socker owner Ron Fowler said Wednesday he has been advised by Dr. David Flood, the team physician, not to let veteran forward Steve Zungul practice or play in any of the season’s remaining games because of his arthritic hips.
Zungul, 35, was told Wednesday that he could not practice. Fowler said he will schedule a meeting with Zungul this week to discuss the situation.
“The doctor felt when the season started that Steve shouldn’t play,” Fowler said. “Steve maintained that his condition hadn’t deteriorated in the last several years and convinced us that he could play through it.”
Zungul has said he will not retire before the end of the season, and Fowler said he won’t interfere with those plans.
