Faria Captures Speedway Scratch Main Event

COSTA MESA — Mike Faria of Riverside won the scratch main event Friday night in the weekly speedway program in front of 4,116 at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Alan Christian of Murietta finished second and Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa was third.
Faria became the first rider to win both the scratch main event and the eight-lap handicap main event this season. Faria won the handicap main two weeks ago.
Lance King of Fountain Valley won the handicap main event Friday. King, who has raced the last eight years in England, took the lead from Randall Dance on the fourth lap and held off Faria for the victory.
