THOUSAND OAKS : Woman Accused of Striking 2 Deputies

Share

A Thousand Oaks woman was being held Wednesday on suspicion of slapping and kicking two sheriff’s deputies who were writing her a traffic citation.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Lt. Kelli McIlvain said Jean O’Neal, 60, was driving south on Moorpark Road near Brazil Street at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday when deputies stopped her because her headlights were off. They later learned that she had no driver’s license.

Although O’Neal was told to wait in her car while a citation was written, she walked back to the patrol car, argued with the deputies, jumped onto the patrol car’s hood and refused to get off, McIlvain said.

When one of the deputies tried to remove her, O’Neal slapped him repeatedly on the head and neck, McIlvain said. The other deputy was kicked in the groin as he handcuffed the woman, the lieutenant said.

Neither deputy required medical treatment.

O’Neal was being held at the Ventura County Jail. Bail was set at $250.
