Carlsbad
A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed and a 20-year-old passenger seriously injured Monday when their motorcycle hit the center divider on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad, the California Highway Patrol said.
Beniamino Orlando Rocco of Stanton was headed north at 4:05 a.m. when his motorcycle hit the guardrail on a curve about half a mile south of Tamarack Avenue, the CHP said. Rocco died at the scene.
Inan Herrmann of Cypress suffered injuries to his chest, head and stomach, and was listed in fair condition at Scripps Memorial Hospital. Neither of the two were wearing helmets, the CHP said.
