PREP ROUNDUP : Huntington Beach Wins Sunset League Golf Title

Mike Hobson shot seven-over-par 79 Tuesday at SeaCliff to lead Huntington Beach High School to a 413-419 victory over Marina, clinching its fifth consecutive Sunset League golf championship.

Huntington Beach is 15-2, 9-0 in league play. Marina is 7-2 in league play.

In other Sunset League golf:

Fountain Valley 426, Edison 436 (18 holes)--Brent Bardwell shot five-over 77 for Fountain Valley (5-10, 2-7) and Tom Quist shot 78 for Edison at Mile Square Park.

Ocean View 414, Westminster 436--Jason Koch led Ocean View with four-over-par 74 at Meadowlark. Ocean View is 5-4 in league play.

In Orange League golf:

After two rounds, Chris Tidland of Valencia leads the league individual tournament, shooting an even-par 144 over 36 holes. Kengo Takahashi of Valencia and Scott Ohls of Savanna are tied for second at 154. The final round of the three-day tournament will be held on Thursday.

In the Empire League golf finals:

Erik Wolf of El Dorado had a two-day total of six-over 150 to win the individual league championship Tuesday at Skylinks in Long Beach. El Dorado’s Joe Morgan finished second with at 158.

Robert D’Antonio (159) of Esperanza was third, Robert Gallagher (160) of Esperanza was fourth and Pete Gimino (161) of Esperanza was fifth.

In Empire League tennis:

Esperanza 13, Loara 5--Visiting Esperanza clinched the league championship with the victory. The No. 3 doubles team of Alex Conter and Bryan Ritz swept their sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, for Esperanza (19-3, 9-0).
