National Pet Week Will Begin Sunday
“Happiness Is a Healthy Pet” is the theme of National Pet Week, which begins Sunday and is being sponsored by the Southern California Veterinary Medical Assn.
According to association president Dr. Ronald S. Porter, responsible pet ownership requires providing food, shelter, love and proper health care, as well as obeying leash and licensing laws, vaccinating dogs and cats, and cleaning up after pets to “ensure better pet / community relations.”
Porter said that National Pet Week is also working to increase public awareness of the psychological and physiological benefits of pet ownership.
