Countywide : 2 Small Offshore Quakes Hit Area
Two small offshore earthquakes with magnitudes of less than 3 shook the Huntington Beach area Wednesday, but there were no reports of damage or injury.
“I was here, and I didn’t even feel it,” said Dennis Williams, a Huntington Beach spokesman, who said only several people had contacted the city’s emergency services to ask about the temblors.
The first quake had a magnitude of 2.7 and hit at 11:17 a.m. about nine miles off Huntington Beach, said a spokesman for the seismology laboratory at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
The second quake, which struck at 11:24 a.m., measured 2.2 and was centered in the same place.
