Fund Drive Opens on Boys, Girls Club
Stars of the entertainment and business worlds joined forces to support a $2.2-million campaign on behalf of the Salesian Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles in City Terrace. Funds are directed toward operating the club’s educational and recreational programs for local children, and renovating the earthquake-damaged building.
As part of the fund drive, six community leaders were honored: East Los Angeles College President Omero Suarez, former USC football star Mike Garrett, actors Edward James Olmos and Jimmy Smits, and business executives Leo Trujillo and Everett McDonough.
