The Moorpark Unified School District on Tuesday ratified a two-year teachers’ contract after nearly a year of negotiations.

Under terms of the contract, the district’s 200 teachers will receive a 5% pay raise for the current school year, retroactive to September, plus a bonus of 2.3% of their salaries.

Next year, teachers will receive a cost-of-living salary increase and a bonus of 1.75%.

In addition, $225,000 will be available to the seven schools in the district to “address the teacher-pupil ratio situation,” Supt. Tom Duffy said.

The teacher-student ratio is 30 to 1, said Yvonne Davis, the district’s personnel director. The funds will be used to hire more teachers to meet the growth in enrollment, Duffy said.
