Chula Vista 2, Montgomery 1--Cesar Martinez pitched a four-hitter as Chula Vista (3-8, 8-14-1) upset Montgomery (8-3, 16-8), which fell out of a three-way tie for first. The winning run scored in the bottom of the seventh when with one out and the bases loaded Art Castro singled in Mario Ayala.

Wrestling coach--Bill Clauder is the long-time Monte Vista wrestling coach who resigned earlier this week. The Times incorrectly reported his name Wednesday.

Sweetwater 8, Mar Vista 2--Yoshio Ohkawa went three for three with three RBIs and scored three runs, Larry Meza was two for two with two RBIs and Lorenzo Inzunza went two for two with an RBI for Sweetwater (17-8, 5-6). Mar Vista fell to 3-21 and 0-11.

City Central League

Crawford 7, Lincoln 4--Eric Breier and Dean Rojas hit home runs for Crawford (16-6, 8-3). Lincoln fell to 7-15 and 2-9).

Madison 11, Hoover 0--Jason McElveny had two hits and Brad Tade went three for three with two RBIs and one run scored for Madison (14-10, 7-3). Hoover fell to 10-15, 2-8.

City Eastern League

Patrick Henry 6, Morse 1--Mark Strauch went two for three with two RBIs for Henry (8-3, 14-10). Morse fell to 1-9, 6-16.

City Harbor League

Clairemont 12, Christian 6--Dave Salonius went three for three with two RBIs for Clairemont (6-4, 13-12) and teammate Craig Goodwin went four for four with an RBI and scored three times. James Gertenslager hit his second home run of the season for Clairemont. His first also came against Christian.

St. Augustine 8, Marian 5--Jeremy Klem hit his first home run of the year, a grand slam in the third to erase Marian’s 3-0 lead. Klem went three for three and had five RBIs. Eric Dent was two for three with a single, triple and two RBIs. St. Augustine (9-2, 15-10) clinched at least a tie for first place. Marian fell to 2-9, 6-16.

City Western League

USDHS 5, La Jolla 3--David Sanchez went two for two, both doubles, scored once and drove in three runs for first-place USDHS (9-1, 21-5). Teammate Jeff Desjardins went two for three with a run scored and an RBI.

Mission Bay 5, Kearny 2--Doug Knight went two for four, scored a run and drove in a run for Mission Bay (13-8, 9-2). Kearny dropped to 10-14, 3-8.

1-A Coastal League

Mountain Empire 6, Santa Fe Christian 1--Gene Harris went three for four with a single, double and triple, one RBI and a run scored. Teammate Gilbert Gonzalez went two for three with an RBI and two runs scored as Mountain Empire improved to 6-3, 12-6. Santa Fe Christian fell to 4-5, 4-12.

Wrestling

Bill Caudill, coach at Monte Vista since 1967, resigned on Monday, according to a published report. No reason was given for his decision.

Caudill had 205 dual meet victories and nine section titles in his 22 years.

Caudill could not be reached for comment.
