Work on widening the Ventura Freeway will require nighttime lane closures this weekend in the west San Fernando Valley, the state Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

At the same time, up to three eastbound lanes will be closed between Winnetka and Lindley avenues.

In addition, the westbound White Oak on-ramp and Reseda Boulevard off-ramp will be closed during the same hours as will the eastbound Winnetka on-ramp.

From 10 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday, up to three eastbound lanes will be closed between Winnetka and Lindley avenues, Caltrans officials said.

Also, the eastbound Vanalden Avenue on-ramp will be closed during those hours.

Caltrans is adding a fifth lane each way on the freeway from Topanga Canyon Boulevard to Universal City.
