ONLY IN BEVERLY HILLS: There are street fairs, and then there is the $300-a-ticket Rodeo Drive Block Party. Today’s 16th annual bash, sponsored by the Concern Foundation to raise money for cancer research, will offer food, drink, celebrities and entertainment built around an “Island Carnaval” theme, not to mention a lavish auction. The party starts at 3 p.m., the auction at 6 p.m.; on Rodeo Drive, north of Wilshire.
ASS TRANSIT: The future of mass transportation in the eastern half of Los Angeles County will be the focus of a Monday meeting called by U.S. Rep. David Drier (R-La Verne). The congressman has invited elected officials and representatives from the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission and from communities throughout the 33rd Congressional District to the Duarte Recreation Center from 9 to 11 a.m., 1600 Huntington Drive, Duarte.
PERSHING HOTEL: One spot on Skid Row will become a true home for residents at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with the opening of the 70-room Pershing Hotel for low-income people.
