Chatsworth High advanced to the City Section 4-A tennis finals Monday, defeating Palisades, the defending city champion, 15-14 1/2, at the Racquet Centre of Universal City.
Chatsworth (18-0) will play University, a 27-2 1/2 winner over North Hollywood, June 1 at the Racquet Centre.
Palisades won 10 of 16 singles matches, but the Chancellors made up for lost ground in doubles. Chatsworth seniors Fred Weiner and Marcus Yee, playing No. 3 doubles, swept their three matches. Ron Charles ensured the victory when he beat Ardy Ghaffari of Palisades, 6-3.
Taft was forced to forfeit its win over North Hollywood in the first round for use of an ineligible player. Freshman Dvir Levy did not live at the address he gave when he enrolled at Taft and has been ruled ineligible for one year.
