Car Drifts Off Freeway, Hits Tree; Driver Killed
WESTMINSTER —
A Long Beach woman who officers say may have fallen asleep at the wheel was killed early Saturday when her car drifted off the San Diego Freeway and crashed into a tree.
California Highway Patrol officers said there was no indication that the woman had tried to stop the car or avoid the tree near the northbound lanes a mile north of Bolsa Avenue.
Coroner’s deputies identified the woman as Cynthia Marie Sainz, 26, the only occupant of the car.
The crash occurred about 1:25 a.m., officers said.
