Prop. 115: Right to Privacy and Crime Victims’ Reform Act

Share

In recent weeks, a number of opponents of Prop. 115 have made statements alleging the passage of this important pro-victim initiative will result in everything from increased costs to placing at risk a woman’s right to choose abortion.

These claims emanate from one group--criminal defense attorneys--ideologically opposed to the fairness and balance Prop. 115 will impose upon the criminal justice system. Don’t be misled! Prop. 115 gives new, meaningful, substantial protection to all Californians--women, men, children alike. It eases the burden of crime victims and other witnesses in our justice system, it provides for equality of information sharing between prosecution and defense, it tightens capital punishment law and makes other necessary changes.

Criminal defense-controlled legislative committees disregarded the needs of the people for years, and as a result the people went over the heads of the defense stooges and placed Prop. 115 on the ballot.
