OXNARD : Freeway Work Ties Up Traffic For 9 Miles

Share

Traffic was backed up about nine miles on the northbound Ventura Freeway on Monday morning while surveyors prepared for improvement of the Wagon Wheel Road exit and entrance ramps.

Workers are reducing the sharp curves of the ramps as part of the Oxnard Town Center development north of the interchange. Cars and trucks were backed up past Camarillo as the freeway’s three lanes were funneled into one between 9 a.m. and noon.

Gary Ethier, engineer for the state Department of Transportation, said the surveying had to be done during the day. Concrete guardrails will be installed along the highway beginning about 9 tonight so work on the interchange can proceed without disrupting traffic.
