Championship events in basketball, horse racing, tennis and soccer--along with baseball and football--make up a very busy sports television weekend.

The surprising Portland Trail Blazers seek to take a 2-1 lead over the Detroit Pistons in the third game of the NBA Finals, Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on Channels 2 and 8.

Kentucky Derby winner Unbridled is the favorite in the final jewel of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown, today’s $686,000 Belmont Stakes. The telecast on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42 begins at 1:30 p.m., with post time at 2:32 p.m.

Top-seeded Steffi Graf meets second-seeded Monica Seles for the French Open women’s singles title today at 1 p.m. on Channels 4, 36 and noon on Channel 39. The same stations will carry the men’s finals between third-seeded Andre Agassi and fourth-seeded Andres Gomez Sunday at 8 a.m.

Ramon Martinez makes his first pitching appearance since tying Sandy Koufax’s Dodgers-record 18 strikeouts Monday, when the Dodgers face the San Diego Padres at 1 p.m. Sunday on Channel 11. Tonight’s 7 o’clock game will also be carried by Channel 11 and San Diego Cable Sports.

The United States plays its first World Cup soccer game since 1950 Sunday against Czechoslovakia. The game will be carried by Turner Network Television (7:55 a.m. start) with KMEX Channel 34 providing a Spanish-language broadcast beginning at 8 a.m.

Arena Football kicks off its fourth season at 11:30 p.m. Sunday on Prime Ticket when the two-time defending champion Detroit Drive (the San Francisco 49ers of Arena Football) meet the Pittsburgh Gladiators. Former Ohio State All-American Art Schlichter will quarterback the Drive.
