SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Dave Hume of Ventura led the Street Stock 10-lap figure-eight main event for nine laps on Friday night and appeared en route to an easy victory at Ventura Raceway.

However, the race ended prematurely when the car in last place, driven by Tom Stephens of Ventura, broadsided Hume. A red flag ended the race one lap early.

The red flag gave the victory to Oxnard’s John Csorba, who took over the season points leadership in the figure-eight division. Jon Christensen of Palmdale took second and Scott Olsen of Ventura third.

Joe Silva of Port Hueneme drove to his first win of the season in the Mini Stock four-lap figure-eight main event. Randy Bingham of Camarillo and Terry Swauger of Ojai were second and third, respectively.

Rock Ake Jr. of Moorpark, Swauger, and Gary Curtis of Camarillo each won an eight-lap Mini Stock heat race.
