From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports

An argument over a minor traffic accident in the parking lot of a restaurant near Van Nuys Airport escalated into a shooting this morning that left one man injured. Los Angeles police were seeking the suspected gunman, authorities said.

Kenny Kingsberry, 28, of Los Angeles was shot twice in the stomach and taken to an undisclosed hospital where he was in serious but stable condition, Sgt. Dallas Gibson said. An unidentified man is being sought in the 2 a.m. shooting in the parking lot of the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant.

The incident occurred as the restaurant was closing and the two men’s cars apparently were involved in a minor accident, police said.

“It was a dispute over a traffic accident and, while they were arguing, shots were fired,” Gibson said.

The shooter fled in his car. Though several patrons were leaving the restaurant at the time, no one could provide police with a description of the gunman or his car.
