Gastineau Signs With Lions--of the CFL
Former New York Jet defensive end Mark Gastineau has joined the British Columbia Lions, a spokesman for the Canadian Football League team said Wednesday.
Roger Kelly said Gastineau, 33, signed a contract late Wednesday afternoon. Details of the deal were not released.
Gastineau was placed on the Jets’ suspended list after leaving the team during the 1988 season. The Jets placed Gastineau on waivers earlier this month, clearing the way for him to join the Lions.
The flamboyant pass rusher, a friend of B.C. owner Murray Pezim, was named to the Lions’ board of directors in September.
