OXNARD : Woman, 54, Raped, Stabbed in Hotel

A 54-year-old woman who was raped and stabbed in an Oxnard residential hotel was in serious condition Friday, authorities said.

The woman was listed in serious condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police answered a call of an attack Thursday in the 1600 block of S. Oxnard Boulevard, said Sgt. Frank Devorick of the Oxnard Police Department.

The victim, bleeding profusely from several stab wounds in her upper torso, was still conscious when officers arrived and administered first aid, Devorick said.

She told officers that she was returning to her hotel room after a trip to a nearby store when a man ran in through the open door and pulled her inside.

The man raped and stabbed her before fleeing on foot south on Oxnard Boulevard, Devorick said.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery, Devorick said.

Devorick said police are continuing the search for the assailant.
