Crescenta Valley Town Council to Take Survey on Banning Billboards
- Share via
A community survey on a proposed ban on new billboards in Montrose and La Crescenta will be taken today at a meeting of the Crescenta Valley Town Council.
Residents are being asked to sign one of two petitions to be presented Wednesday at a public hearing on billboards before the county Department of Regional Planning.
One proposal would ban additional billboards but allow existing boards to be replaced or relocated. The second proposal would eventually phase out all billboards.
A recent survey by the Town Council found that there are 11 billboards along a 1.2-mile stretch of Foothill Boulevard in the unincorporated county territory between Briggs and Pennsylvania avenues. Billboard companies have agreed not to erect more signs but are seeking county permission to replace existing signs when needed.
The Town Council will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. in the recreation building at Crescenta Valley County Park, 3901 Dunsmore Ave.
