Alex Stewart, who is scheduled to fight Tyson in September, knocked down Jaime Howe in the fifth round, then stopped him 32 seconds into the seventh round of a scheduled 10-round heavyweight fight in Monticello, N.Y.

Stewart, 26-1 with 26 knockouts, bloodied Howe’s nose in the fourth, then dropped him 1:07 into the fifth with a straight right. Howe is 15-12-1.

Stewart, ranked No. 4 by the World Boxing Assn. and No. 5 by the International Boxing Federation, suffered his only loss last year against Holyfield.
