Riddick Bowe of New York stopped Art Tucker of Newark, N.J., in the third round of a scheduled 10-round heavyweight fight at Atlantic City, N.J.

Bowe is 18-0 with 16 knockouts.

Referee Tony Orlando halted the contest at 1:41 of the third round after Bowe sent Tucker spinning into the ropes with a big right hand. Bowe, the 1988 Olympic super-heavyweight silver medalist, had dropped Tucker twice earlier in the round.

A Bowe left hook put Tucker down for a count of four early in the round. Bowe, 225, scored with two jabs and a straight right to put Tucker down for a count of nine midway through the round.

Tucker, 217, fell to 17-2-1 with 13 knockouts.
