Music loud and moody provides a soothing respite from all those beastly summer reruns this weekend.

MTV will present a five-hour tape of the Knebworth ’90 concert today at 5 p.m. This all-star rock ‘n’ roll benefit, staged in England two weeks ago, includes sets by Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Eric Clapton, George Michael and many others.

Showtime chimes in at 11 tonight with a new episode of “Coast to Coast: American Music,” hosted by Herbie Hancock. Tonight’s program features performances by such stars from the world of blues, country and jazz as Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana, Ry Cooder, John Hiatt and Clarence Clemons.

And Sunday at 8 p.m. on KCET Channel 28, PBS’ “Evening at Pops” pays tribute to John Williams’ 10th anniversary as conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra with renditions of his film scores for such Steven Spielberg blockbusters as “Jaws,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and “E.T.” Maureen McGovern will also appear.
