A Clairemont man who was shot along with his 10-year-old son as they rode on a motorcycle said Tuesday he believes the shooting might be connected to a incident last week in which two men allegedly threatened him with a weapon.

Alan Roger Goddu, 39, and his son, Jason, were shot as they rode near the Clairemont branch of the post office Monday.

Jason is at Children’s Hospital recovering from gunshot wounds to his chest and arm, said Goddu, who was reached at the hospital. Goddu was released from Sharp Memorial Hospital after being treated for an arm wound.

Last week, Goddu called police after allegedly being threatened outside his home by two men with a gun. Goddu said the men said they were looking for their missing Porsche. Goddu has a Porsche engine in his garage but told the men it was not theirs. No one was hurt and two hours later police arrested two men driving a car fitting Goddu’s description.

A search of the car turned up a mini-arsenal including a .45-caliber handgun, a .25-caliber handgun, a small homemade bomb, a homemade pipe bomb, an AK-47 rifle and a small quantity of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. All the firearms were loaded.

Two men are being held in connection with the incident. Jason Dan Latil, 29, of La Costa, is being held at the Vista jail on $200,000 bail and 36-year-old John Scott Blake, of San Diego, is being held at the County Jail on $200,000 bail, said a jail spokeswoman.

Goddu said that Monday’s shooting is just too much of a coincidence.

“I kind of got threatened a little if I was going to be a witness,” said Goddu. “ . .There seems to be some kind of connection going on.” He has told police about his suspicions.

Police officials said Tuesday they have not yet determined whether the two incidents are related.

The attacker in Monday’s incident is still at large.
