SPORTSCOPE : Heat Meet Blackhawks on Sunday
The Los Angeles Heat plays host to the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks in an American Professional Soccer League West match Sunday afternoon at West Torrance High. Kickoff is at 4.
The Heat has a two-game losing streak and has fallen into fourth place in the Southern Division. However, three teams are tied for first place in the division and only 10 points separate them from last place. A victory is worth six points.
The Heat lost to host San Francisco, 4-2, on July 7. The Blackhawks (10-5) opened the year with seven consecutive victories, but have since fell into third place in the league’s Northern Division.
Former Olympic gymnast Bart Conner will lead a group of youngsters in a workout at the Perry Park Community Center in Redondo Beach this afternoon at 1:30. The event, which is open to the public, is part of a campaign sponsored by the National Youth Fun and Fitness Program to promote exercise as a way to stay healthy.
