A 14-month-old girl found unconscious in a swimming pool was saved by her mother’s boyfriend, who administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, police said.

Delcee Harriman of Morro Bay was released Sunday from Children’s Hospital of Orange County after nearly drowning Saturday morning in the back-yard pool of Vince Prebis, authorities said.

The girl’s mother, Tyna Harriman, 28, was visiting Prebis’ home in the 6300 block of Myrtle Lane, said Huntington Beach Police Lt. Jeff Cope.

Cope said the child had been playing with other children in the home, then disappeared through a kitchen door that led to the garage. She then entered the back yard via a door in the garage and apparently fell into the swimming pool.

She was found two minutes later by Prebis, who pulled her from the water and began administering CPR, while Harriman called paramedics, Cope said.

At least five children have drowned this year in Orange County in swimming pools or hot tubs.
