Countywide : Rapist Sought in at Least Six Attacks

Police in Huntington Beach and Westminster are looking for a rapist in the sexual assaults of at least six females in the area since December.

The most recent attack occurred Sunday in Central Park in Huntington Beach when two teen-age girls were confronted by a man.

He tried to start a conversation with the girls and followed them to an isolated spot in the park where he forced them to the ground, police said.

He attacked one of the 15-year-old girls, but “ran off without completing the sexual assault after (the victim) started screaming and fighting him off,” Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ed McErlain said.

In June, the same person is believed responsible for the rape of a 13-year-old girl at Warner Intermediate School in Westminster. As with many of his victims, the suspect lured the girl to a secluded area with a ruse about needing help to find some lost puppies, police said.

The attacker also tells most of his victims that he is armed with a knife, but none has reported seeing the weapon, McErlain said.

In several of the incidents, the attacker was seen riding a motocross-style bicycle, he said.

Police said the person is believed to have sexually attacked at least four females in Huntington Beach and raped at least two in Westminster.

Authorities described the assailant as 15 to 18 years old, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, thin, with blue eyes and brown hair that is cut short on the sides and long on the top. He also has acne.
