Parkinson Avoids Cartilage Damage

A Magnetic Resonance Image exam performed Friday on the left knee of former Canyon High and USC football player Brent Parkinson did not reveal any unusual injury, officials of the Denver Broncos said.

Bronco Coach Dan Reeves had feared that Parkinson, injured Thursday during practice, had sustained cartilage damage.

“They did look at the MRI and the doctor thought it was OK,” Reeves said Friday. “Everything in there was all old. It didn’t look like any cartilage (damage) or anything.”

A team spokesman said he did not know how long Parkinson would be sidelined.

Parkinson, seeking to earn a position on the Broncos’ roster as a rookie free-agent offensive tackle, was hurt while blocking on a running play during a non-tackling drill at the team’s Greeley, Colo. training camp.
